Altered art calendar pages - June

Image
So I have being playing about with the idea for my June pages, version one was lots of dry brushing red/white/blue paint, it was ok but everything seemed to get lost on the page, so me being me ripped it out of my journal and started again. I completed the background and bunting and was searching for some images.... Upon checking etsy for the octopode stamps I saw this sheet of images. Now my entire book this year has an awful lot of octopode people but I just love them. Anyhow apart from a little doodling I love my June pages....

My fight.............

Ok I deliberately had not said a word on here for fear of jinxing myself.... Last October mums across the country had to put down their choices of secondary schools for their babies. 1stly i had to battle with the thought of my baby going to senior school when and how exactly has that happened. he was just a baby in arms (ok a huge baby 11lb 5) 2 secs ago, now he is turning into a respectable gorgeous young man. Anyway I put down the choices of school after spending many evenings attending the open evenings and decided to go for the schools which had the best academic programmes for George and what he hopes to do with his life, and also the closest school to us and then 2 other schools... Then the wait began until the results were out in March... The email arrived and i was horrified to see that we had not been given any of our 3 choices of school, and that the education authority had decided to place him in a sports specialist school...i just cried for most of the day...My son is p...

Choccywoccydoodah London

Image
Sunday I had no kidletts and I had previous read that Choocywoccydoodah had opened a shop in London. If you have never heard of them, google their cakes and wow. They have a shop and tea room in Brighton, and have now hit London's Carnaby Street. I got there just after opening, the store is amazing. The staff were so pleasant, and the cakes wow, they are hand craved out of chocolate. The colours styles of cakes were amazing. This cake was based on Alice in Wonderland, and these are around 3ft tall...It sat on a gorgeous vintage table surrounded by loads of alices goodies, chocolate goodies and a beautiful vintage typewriter... Even Carnaby street has gone jubilee... I was lucky enough to see some of the mopeds old and new that were hanging around for a meet in the sunshine.... Me outside the store, the reserve exterior hides the most amazing interior.... To walk of the yummy breakfast/lunch I headed to the south bank, and as always in the skater ramp section there were ...

Banksy

Image
On the BBC news this morning I saw a piece on a brand new Banksy that has appeared in North London... So being childless today and its only about a 30min drive away and having a passion to see his works in the flesh before the evil council workers paint over them, i headed to North London. This piece is painted on the side wall of a Poundland store, so of course it has sparked the discussions of it represents the usage of cheap labour as the piece is a child using a sewing machine to create a union jack bunting...or as i see it a celebration of the queens jubliee. When i arrived after getting lost in a maze of one way back streets, i was able to park next to it and jump out for a look and take a picture...Thankfully it has already been preserved with a perspex sheet and it has only been there a few days, so fingers crossed it is allowed to stay. So a fab end to a sunday afternoon :)

Afternoon Tea....

Image
Today I took a day off of work to help my close friend Nikki celebrate her birthday and what better way to do this than a divine Prêt-à-Portea afternoon tea at the Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge The food was absolutely amazing, along with a few glasses of Champagne... Oh to be a lady who could lunch like this regularly lol The menu along with a glass of fizz, the menu was very girlie girlie...no surprise to find the room was almost completely woman. This was my plate of cakes, to go with this was a plate of savouries and also plates of sandwiches/rolls with a variety of fillings.  These plates were kept topped up until you have had enough.... Have you noticed the gorgeous cups/saucers/plates etc. They are all from the Paul Smith Collection, they were stunning and i fell in love with the teapot. alas upon checking the teapot was £400 ouch. still very beautiful though. This is the 1 st cake stand, I fell in love with the small blue handbag shaped cake, these were ...

Bank holiday

Image
So yesterday was a bank holiday and of course it rained. So we headed off to see Avengers Assemble at the cinema, fantastic film with lots of eye candy :-) Then a quick trip into hobbycraft and I bought some wool... It's all rara's fault. I am now making a granny stripe blanket, wish me luck x

Crafty day...

Image
Well it's Sunday and I am knackered, that comes from not sleeping well. It's less than a week to go to George's appeal against the school he has been placed in. I am hoping and praying we get the decision overturned. So the children asked for a quiet day as I think they are tired too. So the day was spent chilling, making both jam and lemon curd tarts, and thanks to some stick and hoop lessons from RaRa I think I might be getting there. Ok off to curl up and watch the Love machine on TV. Happy Sunday x

How did it happen?

Image
all of a sudden 4nights a week plus Saturday's I am suddenly a taxi service to and from a variety of clubs.... The joys of having 3 munchkins i suppose lol xxx

Playing about

Image
Evening, Last night I decided that I would sit down and try and complete my pages for project life.  I am trying to start scrapbooking again but it just is not flowing anymore... Anyway this is my page for March, taken up mostly with most weekends heading into the city with the kids to hunt for eggs...great fun and thank goodness it was dry most weekends as well. And here is a page from my journal, again i keep trying different styles and looks, but cant seem to settle on just one main style at the mo. it seems to very much depend on my mood... Well I hope you have had a dry and fun filled day, mine was full of meetings back to back...maybe this role is not what i thought it would be. only time will tell. nite x

Rain rain go away.....

Image
Welcome to the 1st of May and the rain just continues.... Although charli is loving her new umbrella and skips along singing with it. Oh to be a child and love the weather whatever! well yesterday we actually had blue skies for a bit, and i managed to snap these pics near work. You can be almost fooled into thinking that its a gorgeous time of year by the blue skies, shame that by 4pm yesterday it was raining again, followed by hail, thunder and lightening and torrential rain today... Oh well happy may day! x
