Time 4 tea ....

Image
Each month Abi asks us all to catch up with a cuppa over on her blog http://creatingpaperdreams.blogspot.co.uk/?m=1 So grab a cuppa and let's have a catch up.   We would meet after work and tonight I am feeling chilly, tea or coffee today. We curl up in the living room and start to catch up.  So what's your month been like?  I can't believe that we are at the end of Feb already. This year is flying past. But so far this winter no snow much to my annoyance, you see I love the snow and always head out sledging with the kids lol. Yes I know I'm a huge child. Well this month has been filled with kitchen replacements lol. We decided to buy and fit a new kitchen ourselves.  You see I can tile and build. Hubby can plumb and wire things so we are a good team. We took three days off work and removed the old kitchen, flooring tiles etc all gone. I laid a new tiled floor which took 2 days and boy did my thigh muscles kill. Extreme squat workout lol. Then hubby re plumbed everyt...

We are finally getting there, slowly buy surely.   Over the weekend I built the units and C fitted them on the walls.  Today the worktops were cut to size and put in place.  Now I just have to rub them with oil.  Never thought I would be giving a worktop a massage lol.  So this is today's pic.... This weekend I will buy all the wall tiles etc and start tiling the walls. Yay :-)

Project kitchen

So we decided that we needed to replace our kitchen. The previous owner of the house fried everything and no matter how hard I clean more fatty residue appeared on the cupboards. So we have saved and ordered our kitchen which was delivered Saturday. So this is my starting picture. Vinyl tiled floor, farmyard themed tiles and sticky wooden cabinets. This is the image from the kitchen company. And to save money we are doing this ourselves. So day1.  Remove wall between kitchen/living room.  Messy but great fun.  Remove sticky vinyl tiles. Not such fun they were a pain and hard going. Start tiling floor with large grey stone tiles. Day2 remove all cabinets and carry on with floor.  My back is starting to hurt now but I push on with the aid of a hot bath/radox to look forward too. This is end if day 2. Almost done. Day3 after taking eldest to the orthodontist I continue with the flooring after hubby takes the sink out.  Then off to buy solid wood worktops. Who knew ...

Secret Santa swap

Image
Ok I've not gone insane lol.  I took part for the second year in a secret Santa gift swap over on Carmen's blog.  I sent my parcel off and waited, and waited.  I contact Carmen who assured me it was on its way. So xmas came and went and due to our wedding and being. a tiny bit busy I forgot about it until Carmen emailed to see if it had got caught up in the Xmas post and arrived after new year.  Umm nope. Royal Mail strikes again. I have put in a complaint to the local office, so far in the 6 mths we have lived here my neighbour has grabbed 5 boxes/parcels which have just been left on a doorstep in full view of the road.  3 Xmas present orders went missing so I'm guessing they were left too.  Anyway enough about them.  I just put it to the back if my mind as these things happen. This weekend is the start of project kitchen. More on that later.. So knee deep in plaster my youngest shouts mum the postman needs you, so looking my best lol I got to the doo...

Happy V day!!!

Feb already

This year is already zooming past... So how's the week been for you? My week has flown,  Although I am loving that it is light when I finish work. So I grab the hound for a quick walk whilst the sun sets.  In the fields behind our house there is a dead tree. But I love it, over the past year there has been not signs of life it just stands alone in the field.  Our local card shop is stocking abusive valentines card, they made me laugh do much. And this week has seen nights of building a paper mâché hat for George's art homework. Make a hat out of 2 mediums theme titanic. Lol. We are building an iceberg.  Also last night saw the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics 2014. Love all the colours.   So I am split between two loves, watching sport and ripping out our kitchen.  The new one arrives next Saturday.  But currently I am curled up watching ice hockey Opps lol
