Time for tea -May

Image
Hi come in and grab a seat on this damp cold drizzly day. How are you? Let me put the kettle on.   I heard that abi is busy with her exams but thought I would still invite those who can to pop in for a cuppa.  You caught me reading a bit more of my book, it's about 3 girls who have been through high school/college together and now head off into life. Would you like a slice of cake, I made lemon drizzle and tea loaf,  So what's been happening, this month has been quite quiet really, work and more work.  Have been feeling real tired so for the first time ever I have given into it and got some early nights. Oh well time passes to quickly. I am dragging all 4 to the cinema to see the Lego movie. Wish me luck lol

Homemade bread

Image
I have really got into making my own bread, the whole process of the mixing, kneeling stretching the dough. Letting it prove, then the house fills with the most gorgeous smell. Today was sun dried tomato and Parmesan bread. Absolutely delish.  It needs lasts long though :-) 🍞

Flowers

Image
I just wanted to share the pic of the red roses that hubby bought me.  Oh and my 50p boot sale jug that I just love lol. When I asked why he had bought my roses he answered that he knew I liked them and reminded him of our wedding flowers.  He also helped move and transplant 6 rose bushes from the back to the front garden.   Sometimes he can be so sweet. I know I know pass the sick bucket.

Water fun

Image
Yesterday's weather forcast was warm and sunny. And when we woke it was clear blue skies, so after a trip to the supermarket to grab supplies for a BBQ we chilled in the garden.   One of the things I picked up where two packs of water balloons... The kids invited the boys next door to a water fight out the front.  The balloons quickly went and then it changed to hoses and buckets until everyone was drenched.  We dried off and had a BBQ. What a fab way to spend the afternoon. Today was the two eldests inter school judo comp. they both rocked it and came 1st in each of their groups.  Very proud of them both x

Day out to Greenwich

Image
We found ourselves with a very rare 12 hrs with no children, between 2exes and the kids choosing when they visit we usually have 1, 2 or all 4 kids with us and now as they enter the teen years of which may result in me starting to drink wine again just to get through it, means that we only have minimal time alone.  We try and cherish this time as we have only been together two yrs and married 5mths, it is far to easy to get absorbed in family life and not make time for each other.   Anyway we got a day, a whole day. So we headed off into London (the best city in the world lol) ok I might be biased. Anyway we headed to Greenwich as we both wanted to wander and it's years since I have been here without the kids.  We started with the small but fab indoor market,  I love the street food stalls, the smells assault your senses as you walk past, I could not decide what to get.  We wandered around the stalls and looked in the awesome vintage shops.   Next we w...

Spring flowers

Image
Such a little thing that makes me smile.  I love my jug, and I have been looking for white tulips everywhere.  I love white flowers, roses, lilies but tulips are my faves.  Finally I found 1 bunch. Yay. So now they are happily sitting on the breakfast bar.

Elephant parade 2014

Image
We headed off to lakeside shopping centre in Essex as I saw that the new elephant parade was happening during May.  I thought the place would be quieter at 5pm but how wrong was I it was still busy. We found a map of the elephants and wandered about finding them...  I won't share all the pics, but I love how different they all are, the artists are truly amazing.  My fave is Jack on tour with his Union Jack coat that's a bit worn lol. But the pop art is great as are the watercolour flowers.   If you go see them as they your the uk grab the chance.

Boot sale bargain

Image
IWe headed out this morning to a boot sale about 30mins away, the weather is warm and sunny. I know does it not realise it's a bank holiday.  Anyway. I didn't realise it started at 6. We arrived at 11 and the place was busy but a lot of sellers were heading home.  This place was massive and in 2 hours we had only mooched about a 1/4 of it. But we did find a few bits. Me I found this gorgeous jug in cream glaze for 50p. I just need to buy some flowers, tulips I think.  Hubby grabbed 2 mini manuals to help him with restoring the mini. The twins bought themselves a few roald Dahl books and a model kit. So not too bad. We left with plans to visit again just a lot earlier in the day. Anyway this is my jug.... Hope you had a good bank holiday x
