Baking....

Image
TWhen the mood strikes I love to bake. Saturday we had the British gas man in trying to increase our supply. Did you know that you are supposed to have a certain flow rate, nope me neither.  So whilst they were busy in and out of the house I happened to spot some old bananas in the bowl.  Well in this house we love banana and cinnamon bread. So I whipped up two loaves whilst cooking dinner to feed one lot to the workers and one lot to my tribe lol  Today whilst doing the weekly food shop I noticed a new range of trifles.  This was a choc cherry one, oh wow!  Now I have not made or indeed ate a triple in years, so I thought I would make it for Sunday tea.   As I was making the jelly the twins helped , but as each stage requires cooling they soon got bored and headed off. So I was merrily pottering around, I planted spring bulbs in the front garden, got 2 loads of washing dry as it was a glorious warm sunny day. It got to the stage of whipping the cream to go...

It's that time of the month again, time to invite you all to join me in a cuppa. So come in, tea, coffee??? The kids are curled up watching nanny mcfee.  Sometimes they take me by surprise by watching films I thought they he grown out of.  So how are you? How's your month been?   Mine well all 4 children headed back to school including the twins starting senior school.  They have settled in amazingly well and are enjoying the variety of subjects.   Me well I am now mum taxi, dropping off and picking up from judo, rugby, shopping trips for the girls lol.  I have finished part 3 of my stitch along. The post I further down the page. But I'm struggling as it is dark as soon as I get in and sit down now.  Autumn is upon us, but it means great british bake off is on tv which I love.  In fact that smell is 2 banana breads slow baking in the oven.  I escaped family life lat weekend to attend my friends hen do in London. I loved it and I'm sure I coul...

Stitching update

Part 3 is complete. Yay. Massive change as the house on the left is supposed to be a bakery but to me it doesn't go so I designed a haunted house I will try and take a picture in day light as the colours look so different at night.  Only the title to complete now.

Afternoon tea

Image
Last Saturday I joined my friend and hens for an amazing hen party.  It all started with this.... Mad hatters afternoon tea @ Sanderson hotel london where we were ladies for 2hours. Lol. Following this we headed off for a pub crawl on a pedibus. This is where 8 of you pedal and it propels the vehicle along. Great fun singing to 90's tunes and waving at tourists.  I left the girls to get back to my brood as they headed off to a hotel to get ready for a comedy club. How was your Saturday?

Summer reads

Image
Whilst tidying up i put all the books I had read over the summer into a pile.  After reading I usually give them to friends or pop them into a charity shop.  Excluding the few I have read on my kindle these are the real books I have read over aug and sept. I love reading and spend far too many late night reading just one more chapter lol Oh I have realised what's missing. The new Bridget jones about a boy as I have already passed this back to a friend at work.   So what do you read?  Any favourite authors? Genres?

Caister weekend

Image
We headed away to the beach for a few days.  The reasons that I chose Caister, Norfolk are:- 1). We have been there a few times and know where everything is.  So much easier when you are only there for a few days,  2) the pure white sandy beach right next to the holiday camp. 3) it's only a 2hr drive each way, so perfect for the Friday evening dash to get there. 4) it's one of the places my parents took me when I was a child, great memories. And great to create new ones with my children.  We were so lucky with the weather blue skies, and warm sunshine but very windy.  But I took shelter behind rocks and sat in the warm sun reading my book whilst the children played.  It was great to get away for the weekend.

Stitching update

Image
I am onto part 3 of the Halloween town stitch along, I have started with the cute little witch.  I'm starting to struggle due to it getting dark about 8pm which is when I usually get to sit down after clearing up following dinner.  I find stitching even with the main light in hard going. Back soon to show progress :-)

One pic twenty words

Image
Abi invites to select just one pic and write 20 words about it. This month I have really struggled for a pic to use, until  I got home yesterday and my hubby had baked an apple and blackberry pie. It was yum. Autumn is here.

Back 2 skool

So the twins start senior school, seriously how is that possible. They headed off and enjoyed their first few days, and for the first time ever other than form class they don't have any joint classes which is all new to them. There are arguments for keeping twins together and arguments for apart.  Me I sit on the fence.  But I sit and watch them grow and become young adults.  Joined by George who starts yr 9, he has sprouted again over the summer and is now over 6ft.   X
